Terms of Use

These terms set the rules for using Middlesex County Residents Directory. By using the service, you accept these terms. Do not use it if you do not agree.

1. Purpose of the Service

Middlesex County Residents Directory is a private reference to public rolls, record indexes, and historical directory collections for Middlesex County, Massachusetts. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with any government office, court, library, or records custodian.

2. Acceptable Use

Use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not use the reference or information reached through it to:

  • Stalk, threaten, intimidate, harass, or harm another person.
  • Find a person protected by a restraining or protective order.
  • Commit fraud, identity theft, or another unlawful act.
  • Make FCRA-regulated decisions about credit, employment, tenant screening, insurance, or another covered purpose.
  • Systematically scrape, copy, or republish content at scale.
  • Disrupt the service, interfere with security, or bypass access controls.

3. Consumer Reporting Limits

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Nothing here or in a linked search result is a consumer report. It may not be used to determine eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or any other purpose regulated by the FCRA.

4. Outside Services

Government databases, library collections, and sponsored search tools have their own terms, privacy practices, availability, and costs. We do not control their content or results.

5. No Warranty

The service is offered as available and without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that content is complete, accurate, current, or suitable for a particular purpose, or that an external portal will remain available.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential loss arising from use of the reference or an external source.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, caused by your misuse of the service or violation of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

Original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a brief attributed excerpt is allowed. Republishing full pages or systematically copying their content is not.

9. Changes to Terms

We may revise these terms by posting a new version. Continuing to use the service after a revision accepts the updated terms.

10. Access Restrictions

We may suspend or limit access for misuse, a violation of these terms, or a security concern, with or without prior notice.

11. Massachusetts Law

Massachusetts law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Massachusetts Public Records Law, G.L. c. 66, § 10, governs request handling by public custodians, not private use of this reference.

12. Severability

If one part of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective.
